just 100 random things about me. ok, so maybe some are not so random, but here goes…

1. i’m a california girl through and through. los angeles will always be home no matter where i live.

2. however, along with that, you should also know that tahoe is home. i spent what i consider to be my formative years there, especially during college. my earliest memories of tahoe go back to 1984, so it’s in my blood.

3. i love to read. anything and everything. nothing is immune, except for science fiction. i don’t like science fiction.

4. my favorite “old” movie is roman holiday, with audrey hepburn.

5. i have the best friends ever. seriously. i cannot imagine my life without them. i may not have a lot of friends, but i wouldn’t trade anything for the ones i do have.

6. i love kids, but i’m not too sure i want my own. i think it’s a downfall of being a teacher, especially at a preschool. i’ve spent so many hours with the babies that i’ve realized i’m nowhere near ready to have kids of my own. that may change someday, but for now, no kids.

7. i’m an artist. i love to paint, scrapbook, take pictures, and make a mess.

8. i’m a nerd and not afraid to admit it.

9. my favorite book is the great gatsby.

10. one of my favorite kids at work is not even my student.

11. i collect elephants, but they must have their trunks up. it’s good luck if an elephant has its trunk up.

12. i love to travel. i want to see the world, even the places nobody really wants to go, like india, morocco, and israel. and by nobody, i mean, of course, my mother.

13. i don’t fear the world. i don’t believe terrorists are going to take me from my bed at night. this doesn’t mean i’m not cautious and don’t want to stay safe and alive. but i cannot live if i fear the world, and i refuse to not live.

14. i’m nearly 26, which is dangerously close to 30, so my 26th birthday will be the last one i acknowledge. i will still age and live my life, but i will be a perpetual 26 year old.

15. i don’t like people who talk down to me. i am a well-educated, smart person who knows what she is doing, contrary to what others may believe. i can’t change what people think, but damned if it isn’t going to piss me off when you talk down to me and disrespect me because i’m better educated than you are.

16. i have an obsession with shopping. i can’t seem to stop myself these days. there are so many great things for spring. my favorite store is american eagle…their jeans are my favorite. i’d own a pair in every style if i could afford it.

17. i love getting random (and not so random) comments on my blog, especially from roxanne.

18. i’m a photography nut.

19. my religion is a huge part of who i am. it didn’t used to be, because i had kind of fallen away from it, simply because it wasn’t what my parents wanted. but ever since i started teaching religious school, i’ve felt drawn to judaism and all that entails. i’ve been reading and learning all i can. i wouldn’t necessarily call myself religious, but i definitely believe in something.

20. i don’t fit inside a box. i’m a creative, artistic being who doesn’t try to fit the mold. a lot of people i know don’t like that. i think it’s uncomfortable for them, especially for my mom. i do things totally different from how she does them and i’m not dependent or scared of the world; and i think that really bothers her. i wish it didn’t, but i can’t change what she believes, just like i can’t change my beliefs. i am who i am, and you can take me or leave me. but i’ll hope you’ll give me a chance. i’m a pretty cool person, i think, without being egotistical.

21. cupcakes are the way to my heart. i absolutely love cupcakes and since they are all the rage right now, it’s pretty easy to find them whenever you want them.

22. i love jewish music. i love to hear people singing in hebrew, especially the songs and prayers that i am familiar with. cheesy as it is, it makes my heart sing to hear a familiar jewish prayer.

23. i miss going to temple every friday. i’m going to start going again very soon. i really like exploring my jewishness and where i came from.

24. my only regret in life is that i didn’t go back to see my favorite high school teacher before he died. in my defense, i didn’t know he had cancer, but that’s no excuse. i still should have gone back. he’s the reason i became a teacher and i think of him often. my whole teaching career is dedicated to him.

25. roxanne thinks i rock! i should stop my list right here and now, because that is all you need to know. but i won’t, because 25 is not 100. only 75 more to go.

26. i want to travel the world. doesn’t matter where, but topping the list: london, spain, italy, and israel. i know i’m probably insane to want to go to israel, given the lack of safety there, but i want to see where i came from (which is actually poland and lithuania).

27. i could listen to people speak hebrew all day and all night. i think it’s the coolest language and i really want to learn to speak it fluently. i know most of the prayers by heart and a few words here and there, but not enough.

28. i’m a photography nut. if i could quit my job and just travel the world taking pictures i would do it in a heartbeat. two catches to that: i’d have to get paid in some form and i’d want lauren with me sometimes.

29. i have to sleep with the closet doors completely closed. i can’t fall asleep if they aren’t.

30. i like to fall asleep with some sort of noise; either the tv or my ipod. but if there’s tv, i can’t use my ipod. if there’s no tv, i can fall asleep with the ipod with no problems.

31. i love to find old friends and family on myspace and facebook. sometimes it has been bittersweet, but mostly it’s been fun.

32. being organic/veggie is good. i feel so much better. now, if i could just make my stomach disappear, i’d be a happy camper. i think i need to start doing crunches in addition to walking. it would also help if i cut out sweets.

33. i’m very random. deal with it.

34. i love to read, but i currently have three books in the bookshelf that i’ve started and gotten bored with about ten pages in. i do this a lot: i have a tendency to start books and then get bored with them, so i give up.

35. i think it sucks that jamie and i never talk anymore. this is partially my fault since i never call or text.

36. i hate my job. i want to quit everyday.

37. i always read the ends of books before i actually start them. it might be a few pages, a paragraph, or a whole chapter, but i always read the end first.

38. i pretty much only listen to indie bands nobody has ever heard of.

39. i like buying big sunglasses. i wear them over my regular glasses, so i pretty much look silly all the time. but i don’t care.
